Randy Briggs Bio

Following graduation from college and two years as a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army, Randy returned to law school at the University of Florida. After graduating in the top 10 percent of his law school class in 1975, with several academic honors, Randy accepted a position with the Orlando law firm of McGuire, Voorhis and Wells, P.A. His two years with that firm were spent primarily in the defense of complex medical malpractice claims, various types of insurance defense work, and representation of accident victims.

A fifth-generation Marion County resident, Randy returned to his home of Ocala in 1977 and joined the firm of Ayres, Cluster, Curry, Meffert & McCall, P.A., and was made a partner the following year when the firm was renamed Ayres, Cluster, Curry, McCall & Briggs, P.A. He remained a partner in that firm for 22 years until establishing The Briggs Law Firm. From 1977 to 1983, the majority of his work in the personal injury field was on behalf of insurance companies, defending their insureds throughout Central Florida. In 1983, he completely stopped representing insurance companies and since that time has devoted more than 95 percent of his work life to representing accident victims.

In opening The Briggs Law Firm, Randy brought to the practice over 25 years of experience, board certifications in Civil Trial Law awarded by both the Florida Bar and the National Board of Trial Advocacy, and an “AV” rating by Martindale-Hubbell, its highest peer review ratings for legal ability and ethics. His experience includes jury trials throughout Florida, including Miami, Pensacola, Tampa, Orlando, Jacksonville, and numerous Central Florida cities. His experience also includes handling, from inception to conclusion, claims involving most every type of accident, as well as nursing home claims, very selective claims of medical malpractice, and complex product liability claims. He has taught trial skills to trial lawyers at seminars and trial schools, has lectured at personal injury seminars sponsored by the Florida Bar throughout the state, and has coached University of Florida Law School Trial Teams for competitions held in Alabama, Georgia and Florida.
